Crime & safety programs were noted as a top priority by Beltrami residents in the 2016 Neighborhood Priority Plan survey. In response, the Housing & Livability Committee proposed the creation of a flexible grant program aimed at increasing home security in Beltrami. On May 2nd, 2016, the BNC Board of Directors approved the creation of the $100 Beltrami Home Security Grant. On January 7th, 2019, the BNC Board of Directors agreed to increase the amount to $200.

The BNC will reimburse residents for up to $200 in home security improvements. Eligible improvements include: new locks for windows and doors, motion sensor lights for the exterior of your home, new strike plates, replacements for broken windows or doors, security cameras, etc.

To apply for the grant, please submit an application to the Beltrami Neighborhood Council via email (office@discoverbeltrami.org) or mail (PO Box 18297, Minneapolis, MN, 55418). The BNC will contact you within 10 business days to inform you of the status of your application. Once your project is approved, you can proceed knowing you have funding from the BNC. When your project is completed, and you’ve submitted all receipts and proof of City inspection (if applicable), you will be reimbursed by the BNC.

Residents can also retroactively apply for the grant as long as all the documentation requirements of the grant process are met.
